CARGO · SHIP TO TRUCK

Fish won't move from ship to truck

Applies to the September 2026 creator preview shown below. The release build is due September 29 and may differ.

Do these checks in order

Load fish at the fishing grounds and unload it at the town harbor. If the ship carries fish but the truck leg stays empty, place a warehouse beside the harbor and truck cargo stop. Run both lines, then follow the fish from ship to warehouse to truck. Ports and stations do not store cargo between lines in TF3.

Why these are separate faults

In Seniac's preview run at 17:45, the ship's load and unload settings were reversed. Fixing that let the ship collect fish. Later, at 24:03, he added a warehouse near the harbor and truck stop to make the onward transfer work. The video shows both changes, so it does not prove that the warehouse alone fixed the entire route.

Repair the route

  1. Open the ship line. Set the fishing grounds stop to load fish and the town harbor stop to unload fish. Run the ship and check that fish appears on board before it reaches the harbor.
  2. Keep the ship and truck legs distinct. The ship brings fish to the harbor; a cargo truck line takes it to the town area that requests fish. In the preview run, the player checked that destination demand before completing the route.
  3. Add storage for the change of line. Put a warehouse beside the harbor and truck cargo stop, as shown in the preview. Urban Games' developer answer says that fish changing from ship to a shore truck needs warehouse storage even if it is moved on immediately. A port or platform alone will not hold it for the next line.
  4. Inspect each handoff. Run both lines and check fish on the ship, stock at the warehouse and cargo on the truck. The official gameplay overview shows warehouse stock and incoming/outgoing information; use these to locate the leg where movement stops.

How to tell it worked

In the preview, fish began moving onward after the ship direction and warehouse changes. The useful check is the full chain: fish boards the ship at the fishing grounds, reaches the harbor, then leaves on the cargo truck. A warehouse building alone is not a success signal.

If fish still does not move

  • The ship is empty: recheck which stop loads fish and which unloads it. A warehouse cannot fix a ship that never collected fish.
  • The ship carries fish, but the warehouse stays empty: compare your warehouse placement with the harbor-side placement in the preview. Check the warehouse's stock and incoming display; if nothing arrives, move it next to the harbor and truck stop and watch the handoff again. The preview does not establish an exact connection radius.
  • Fish enters storage, but trucks are empty: check that the truck line loads at the cargo stop beside the warehouse and that its vehicle accepts the cargo category. Vehicle compatibility is a separate check from storage.
  • A truck carries fish, but delivery is not completing: check that its destination serves the town area requesting fish, as the player did in the preview.

This is a ship-to-truck example. The developer also describes an exception for freight delivered directly to a town or industry consumer, so do not add a warehouse to every cargo route by default.
